Gernlinden – The little ones in the Brother Konrad kindergarten are enthusiastic about their new home.Because the house is not only spacious, but also ultra-modern in terms of energy. The girls and boys had to play in a container for a year and a half.During this time her old kindergarten was demolished and the new house was built. It was cramped and dark in the provisional. But it was worth waiting. The old octagonal kindergarten next to the church has been transformed into a modern, wood-clad building in the shape of an "L" with huge windows in all directions. If you want to get in, you have to know a “key holder”.There are only a few of them. One is church orderly Josef Kennerknecht.During a tour, he explains the new locking system.Everyone has to ring the bell, the door only opens from the inside. This is very important for the educators: now they no longer have to worry about strangers in the house. In addition, the handle is placed so high on the inside that children cannot reach it."We can finally let the little ones run free and don't have to worry about one running away," says Margarete Sommer, deputy manager of the house. There is also plenty of space for relaxation.Overall, the new kindergarten measures over 400 square meters: the corridors are extra wide, each group not only has a large room to play, paint and make snacks, but also a smaller adjoining room to rest."We can divide groups and look after half of them in the next room," says Sommer. In addition, each group now has its own toilet with two cubicles and two sinks - all in dwarf format, of course, suitable for the children.Holes in the ceiling absorb the noise. A small boiler hangs next to each mini sink."It's the same throughout the house," explains Kennerknecht. If the children turn on the water, a large device that stores and heats water for the entire building does not have to be put into operation. The small boxes do that. Kennerknecht: "The mini boilers are more energetic." There are over 20 units hanging in the building. In total, the new building cost more than 2.5 million euros. One third of them took over the ordinariate, two thirds came from the municipality of Maisach.Today is fruit day. That's why there are platters of sliced apples and bananas on the small tables in the mice group. The children sit around it, laugh, chatter, munch. But it's not loud."The reason for this is up there," says Kennerknecht, pointing to the ceiling. It is paneled with wood and has larger and smaller holes - a special soundproof ceiling."She even swallows the bright children's voices." The children at the tables look a little wistfully outside.Through the huge windows, which reach from the ceiling to the floor, you can see the garden. He may not yet be stepped on: "The lawn has not yet grown in," explains Kennerknecht. The parents and educators worked hard.Because money was tight for the new building, the parish association saved the sum for the gardeners and called on the parents to help."We worked for several days. The parents have planted lots of shrubs.” Raised beds have also been laid out for gardening in the summer, and of course there is also play equipment outside.Gable roof would have covered the church window "As long as we're not allowed in the garden, we take the children to the playground every day," explains Margarete Sommer. And there is also a gym in the heart of the building. There you can also romp around inside. The new kindergarten and the church - they are an interesting duo.The church is high with its pointed roof and turret, while the kindergarten is really tiny. The one-storey building looks like a block.Like a pretty block. After much discussion, the house got a flat roof. The municipal council had criticized in advance that such a roof was prone to weather damage and also did not look good. However, the client, the parish church foundation or the archdiocese, prevailed – a gabled roof would have covered the colorful windows of the church.(can)
